Andrew Tate, an online influencer, was placed under house arrest in Romania.

Andrew Tate, a controversial online personality and his brother, Tristan, have been placed under house arrest while they are investigated for alleged human trafficking, assault, and framing of a group of thugs to exploit women physically. They had been in police custody since December 29, along with two Romanian women who were also suspects. The Romanian court overturned the investigators' request to keep them in police custody until late April. The brothers deny all charges brought against them, and their lawyers claim that the court's decision is legal and correct. They are not allowed to speak with witnesses or leave the house without permission from the authorities. The two female suspects have been released. The Tate brothers' alleged victims were tricked into thinking that the brothers wanted a relationship or marriage with them. They were then coerced into creating pornographic content for social media platforms, resulting in significant financial gains for the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and prosecutors have until the end of June to bring the suspects to trial. The Tate brothers' properties have been raided, and their assets, including a collection of high-end automobiles, have been seized. Andrew Tate appeared on the UK reality show "Big Brother" in 2016 but was removed from the show after a video of him attacking a woman surfaced. He has been banned from several social media platforms due to his use of misogynistic language and hate speech. After Elon Musk purchased the company, Tate was given permission to return to his Twitter account, where he has 5.5 million followers.
